General Hospital, Balaclava
17 April 1856
Apologises for the trouble her unendorsed Treasury Bills have been giving; more trouble with Sir John Hall; the dirt in the hospital on Mrs. Bridgeman's departure; after two days hard cleaning Sir John Hall visited the hospital and 'wrote an angry letter saying he was 'disgusted with the state of the Hospital' and 'ordered it all to be put back into the admirable order it was in previously.'
