T1hanks Mr. Rathbone for sending her General Ponsonby's scheme; 1 ' it is indeed a terrible one for mischief, without an element of good.' Sir Rutherford Alcock2 has written to ask to see her about the Jubilee Fund; Bonham Carter has gone to America for two months; she hopes that the scheme for the Jubilee Fund will not be finally decided till December; expresses her gratitude for 'your beautiful flowering plants.'

1. Sir Henry Ponsonby's scheme suggested the setting up of a central body which would unite and organize existing institutions, as well as 'grant rewards ... and give a few pensions.' (See Mary Stocks, One Hundred Years of District Nursing, pp. 67-69.)
2. Sir Rutherford Alcock (180(-1897) was a member of the advisory committee set up to advise on the use of the Women's Jubilee Offering. (See 334 n.l.)
