MRS. FREWEN TURNER
Lea Hurst, Matlock
21 Aug. 1870
Thanks her for her kind note and her goodness to the poor sick and wounded; F.N. is sending a large packet of Circulars, Lists and Notes to Miss Eleanor Martin as desired; the sovereign enclosed by Mrs. Turner will be paid in to the Aid to the Sick and Wounded Fund where the necessities of the wounded increase more and more week by week, and almost every day Surgeons are being sent out from the General Committee with some hundred pounds worth of the articles asked for to the Hospitals on both sides; a pathetic little book from a Society of Russian Ladies asking her to be their Vice President; all the passages in it well selected from Prayers and Scriptures of all creeds.
