'Private'; it is simply impossible for F.N. to do what Mme. S. wants; she could not undertake even to read any applications, let alone urge them on the Committee; the circumstances of her overwork and ill health; her enormous correspondence with all the seats of war; F.N. returns Miss RumpffIs letter; F.N. obtained £50 for Miss R. last week; and the Aid Society have given the Prussian Hospitals before Paris £20,000 but little or nothing appears to have reached the Hospitals; F.N. cannot judge about Mme. Schwabels letters to Sir Harry Verney and Col. Lindsay; she feels Mme. Schwabe may have misunderstood the Aid Society; rival claims of the Widows and Orphans, and the Starving Peasantry.
