Links to other Florence Nightingale sites
The Florence Nightingale Museum is in St.Thomas's Hospital across the river from London's Houses of Parliament. Nightingale designed the buildings of St. Thomas's and her nursing school was established there. The Museum has a study centre where students can examine many of Nightingale's rarest publications. On the Florence Nightingale Museum's website you will find information about the museum and some research papers including one by Hugh Small, author of Florence Nightingale: Avenging Angel, on Florence Nightingale's Statistical Diagrams. If you prefer to download a version of this paper in Microsoft Word Version 6/95 (it is better formatted than the HTML version), click here.
Another Florence Nightingale site is Country Joe McDonald's Tribute to Florence Nightingale. Country Joe is a US Army veteran and versatile musician whose inflammatory 1960's anti-war lyrics are widely thought to have turned mainstream public opinion in the US against the war in Vietnam. He has researched unpublished Nightingale papers and some of his findings are on his site.
There is an interesting facsimile collection of Florence Nightingale's letters on the web site of the Clendening History of Medicine Library at Kansas University Medical Centre.
Prof. Lynn McDonald, at the University of Guelph, is leading a project to transcribe all of Florence Nightingale's letters and publish them. To find out more, visit the website of the Collected Works of Florence Nightingale.
